Flemish Beef Stew Recipe
A hearty beef stew with Belgian Beer. You may replace the beer with red wine for a different recipe (not so flemish thought). Add some carrot and celery for a more nutritious meal. Serve with potatoes.

8-10 servings
- 2 pounds cubed beef
- 1 12 oz Belgian beer bottle
- 2 medium onions, diced
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 2 tablespoons bwown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 4 bacon slices, chopped
- 3 minced garlic cloves
- 1 cup beef broth
- 4 tablespoons tomato paste
- In a very large cooking pot, fry bacon in butter for 5 minutes.
- Brown the meat, over high heat, for 5 minutes. Add the onion, reduce heat and cook for 5 more minutes.
- Add the rest of the ingredients and bake for 2 hours at 350F.
