- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoons ginger
- 2 tablespoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup solid vegetable shortening
- 1 cup molasses
- 1 cup water
- Mix the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and ginger in a bowl. Reserve
- In a large bowl, cream the sugar and shortening together. Add the eggs and stir.
- Add molasses and stir thoroughly.
- Add the water and dry ingredients gradually while stirring for a couple minutes.
- Spoon the dough on a greased cookie pan and bake for 10-12 minutes at 375 degrees F.
