Best Homemade Mexican Pie Recipe
A spicy ground beef pie with Mozzarella Cheese. Could be done with chicken, turkey or pork instead of beef for a more healthy recipe. Serve with a tomato or brown sauce.

- 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
- 2 lb ground veal
- 1/2 cup Grated Monterey Jack Cheese
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup green bell peppers
- 1/2 cup chili sauce
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup sweet relish
- 1 teaspoon tabasco
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Preheat oven to 425°F
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat then brown the ground veal for 5 minutes.
- Add the onion and green bell pepper and cook for 10 minutes.
- Add the rest of the ingredients except the cheese and pastry and cook for 5 minutes.
- Line a deep 9 inch pie plate with pastry. Spoon in filling, spreading evenly.
- Spread the cheese evenly over the mix.
- Cover with top crust.
- Bake for 15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
