Russian Beef Stew Recipe

An easy beef stew with sour cream and bacon. You may add some mustard and light cream for a tastier recipe. Serve this homemade stew with round potatoes and your favorite veggies.

  • 1 pound lean beef slices
  • 3 medium onions, chopped
  • 3 carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 6 slices bacon, chopped
  • 3 cups beef stock
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 6 potatoes, diced
  • flour
  • Salt & Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 Bay leaves
  1. Heat olive oil, over medium heat, in a large cooking pot. Pour the bacon and cook until crisp (around 8 minutes). Set aside.
  2. Cook onion for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, coat the beef slices with flour. Then set onion aside.
  3. Brown beef in oil until golden brown (around 15 minutes).
  4. Pour back the onion and bacon into your cooking pot then add vegetables.
  5. Add the rest of the ingredients except for the sour cream.
  6. Cook for 1 1/2 hour at 350 F. Add sour cream, mix gently and cook for 30 more minutes.
