Spicy Homemade Shepherd's Pie with Cheese Recipe (Ground Beef)
A spicy version of the traditional Shepherds Pie recipe, done with a mexican touch, and baked with Mozzarella Cheese. Add some vegetables and use lean ground veal for a healthy and low fat recipe.

- 3 large potatoes
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 pound ground beef
- 3 onions, chopped
- 1 cup chopped red bell pepper
- 1/4 cup chili sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup sweet relish
- 1 teaspoon tabasco sauce
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 can cream corn
- 1 cup milk
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
- Cook the potatoes in boiling water and mash them with butter, milk, salt & pepper to taste. Reserve.
- Meanwhile, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium heat in a large frying pan. Brown the ground beef with vegetables for 5 minutes then add chili sauce, ketchup, sweet relish, tabasco sauce, sugar then cook for an additional 5-10 minutes.
- In a large and deep 9 inch baking dish, pour the ground beef mixture equally, layer the cream corn, then the potatoes. Bake for 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees F, spread mozzarella cheese 20 minutes before the end.
