Best French Canadian Tourtiere Recipe
Old Fashioned French Canadian meatpie. A recipe from Quebec(Canada). Use ground turkey or chicken for a healthy recipe. Also called "tourtiere." Serve with brown sauce.

- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 1/2 lb ground veal
- 1 chopped onion
- Salt & pepper
- water
- 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground clove
- Pour the meat and onions in a large saucepan and add water until you reach the top of the meat
- Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer uncovered while stirring occasionally until the meat begins to stick on the bottom of the pan; add the cinnamon and clove near the end
- Add salt and pepper, adjust to your taste
- Preheat oven at 400° F
- Pour the mix in the 9 inch pastry and cover with top pastry
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown
